Fabrizio was born in Italy in 1979 and was always strongly attracted to music from a very young age. Opera and Film Music were his first musical loves.
Following the passionate advice of two-time Pulitzer Award and Kennedy Center Honor recipient composer Gian Carlo Menotti, Fabrizio enrolled in the Composition Program at the Conservatory A.Casella of l’Aquila in 1997 (a ten-year program comparable to a Masters degree), where he graduated with honors in both Composition and Conducting in 2006.
In 2006 and 2007, Fabrizio was awarded two scholarships that provided him with the unique opportunity to study film scoring under Academy Award-winning composer Luis Bacalov (Il Postino) at the prestigious Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy. He also received the Merit Diploma in film scoring in 2007. In 2008, Fabrizio was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Grant and the M. Vinciguerra Fund Award.
Pursuant to the Fulbright Grant, he studied Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television at the University of Southern California and graduated in 2009.
In 1998, composer Gian Carlo Menotti asked Fabrizio to assist him for the staging of his opera “The Consul” at the Spoleto festival of Two Worlds. Since then, Fabrizio continued to work closely with Mr. Menotti on many projects until the Maestro’s death in 2007.
Fabrizio has composed music for multiple venues and media (including concerts, theater, film and television, the web) since the late 1990s and has closely collaborated with many different directors and prestigious institutions. Fabrizio’s music for the Italian State TV Show “Agorà” (from 2010 through the present) is among the most popular music themes in Italy, having aired daily for five years on the major Italian TV Network.
Along with his personal composing career, Fabrizio also collaborates and assists composers on projects as an orchestrator and conductor for films and television.
A short list of his clients include The Walt Disney Studios, Spiritclips/Feeln (Hallmark), Lionsgate, Bay Area International Children’s Film Festival, Rai, Mediaset (Taodue), Studio Bozzetto, Felix Film and Graffiti Media Factory. Fabrizio is the co-founder, co-owner and Chief Financial Officer of the music and sound production company Film Scoring Lab Inc., based in Los Angeles.
He also serves as the Professor of History of Italian Opera at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles, and is a speaker and host of opera screenings there as well.
Mr. Mancinelli also served as the Artistic Director for the Los Angeles Celebration of Italian National Day in 2013.
As an aside, Fabrizio is a licensed Italian attorney and has specialized in copyright law in the European Union.
